Water Planning Group

The Hood River County Water Planning Group  was formed in 2008 with a mission  to assess future water needs for threatened and endangered aquatic species, irrigated agriculture, and recreation in the Hood River Basin.  The Group includes the County, the Hood River Watershed Group, major irrigation and water districts, the Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District, environmental groups and local resource specialists.

From 2011 to 2012, the Group applied for grant funds to support  their mission and received in-kind staff expertise from the Bureau of Reclamation's WaterSMART grant program and funds from the Oregon Water Resources Department's (OWRD) Water, Reuse and Storage grant program.  With these funds and Reclamation expertise, the Group is currently overseeing a Water Planning Study for the Hood River Basin.
