Recreation Trail Maps

There are two maps for the Northwest Area:

  1. Motorized Map: One is the Hood River County Tree Farm Northwest Area Off-Highway Vehicle Map Guide. This map is designed for the motorized user. The map is funded through the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department ATV Grant Program. Maps are free to the public and are available at the Hood River County Forestry Department office and at each of the three motorized staging area kiosks (information boards) in the Norlthwest Area. Maps can also be found at a couple of vendors in Hood River and The Dalles.
  2. Non-Motorized Map: The second map is entitled Hood River County Tree Farm Northwest Area Recreation Trails and is primarily designed for non-motorized users. It was originally developed through a Challenge Cost Share Program grant from the National Park Service and included input from local trail enthusiasts, trail adopters, private citizens, and the Forestry Department. Maps cost $6.95 each and are available in Hood River at Discover Bicycles, Mountain View Cycles, Dirty Fingers Bicycles, Shortt Supply, Waucoma Bookstore, and the Hood River Chamber of Commerce. Some of the proceeds from the sale of the maps fund map reprints and some is provided for trail maintenance.

Trail numbers in the NW Area are three digits from 100 - 199. Numbers ending in ‘L’ are loop trails. Trail numbers are brown and white. Road numbers are comprised of four digits and are black and white.
